Privacy Policy & POPIA Notice

Last updated: 20 October 2026

1. Responsible party

MoremiServ (Pty) Ltd (CIPC Reg. No. 2026/636788/07), trading as MoVal, is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Registered address: 21627 Dolphin Street, Lion Pride Lifestyle Estate, Nietgedacht, 1739, South Africa. Information Officer: Presly Moremi, info@moval.co.za.

2. What we collect

  • Account details: name, email, phone number, city and address.
  • Worker vetting: ID or passport, right-to-work permits, proof of residence, CV, references, training certificates and profile photo.
  • Special personal information: police clearance (criminal record) results.
  • Banking details for payouts, and booking, payment and message records.

3. Why and on what basis

We process information to vet workers, match and book services, draft contracts and payslips, pay workers and meet UIF, COIDA and tax obligations. Our lawful bases are your consent, performance of a contract, legal obligations and legitimate interests.

Police clearance: submitting a police clearance certificate is voluntary. Information about criminal behaviour is processed only with your explicit, specific consent (POPIA s27 and s33), solely to verify suitability for work with households, children and vulnerable people. It is never shown to Clients — they see only that verification was completed. Where POPIA s57 requires prior authorisation from the Information Regulator, we process this information only in line with that authorisation.

4. Sharing

Employers see your verified profile, never your ID number or bank details. We share information with payment, email and hosting providers under confidentiality agreements, and with authorities when the law requires. We never sell personal information.

5. Cross-border transfers

Some of our cloud providers store data outside South Africa. We only use providers bound by data-protection laws or agreements offering protection comparable to POPIA (s72).

6. Retention and security

Vetting documents are kept while your account is active and for up to 5 years afterwards to meet employment and tax record-keeping laws, then deleted. Documents are stored privately, access is restricted to authorised reviewers, and links expire after a short time.

7. Your rights

  • Access, correct or request deletion of your information (POPIA s23–24).
  • Withdraw consent or object to processing, including direct marketing.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator: complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.

Email info@moval.co.za to exercise any right. We respond within 30 days.

8. PAIA manual

Our manual under section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 is available free on request from our Information Officer at info@moval.co.za.
